I’m probably late to the party on this one as it was released during the summer of 2009, but I was stopped in my tracks when I heard this song on the radio the other day. I certainly didn’t expect to hear the haunting strains of Patsy Cline singing “Strange” on the station I was listening to.
It turns out, Patsy was sampled by DJ Sharam for his song “She Came Along” featuring Kid Cudi.
Here’s the full Patsy Cline version.
Now about the Sharam video’s faux Sergio Leone look. If you liked that, check out this Muse video for “Knights of Cydonia.” It’s got cowboys, robots and some kung fu. Something for everyone.
Nature photographer David Slater has come across a dojo family of very aggressive squirrels in Etosha National Park, Namibia.
These members of my legion throw down with some nasty fu and fighting forms.
Metro has the full story and more Fight Club pics.
Here’s a little extra squirrel action for you. No stuffed real squirrels were harmed in the making of this video.

I haven’t posted in a couple of days due to the holiday, but my Thanksgiving Day was just about a Perfect Day.
I watched documentaries about Andy Warhol and the folks at the Factory on the Ovation network, ate leftover dressing, wandered in the sun in my mom’s backyard, ate pecans I picked up off the lawn and cracked open on the spot, eyed a woodpecker stealing pecans from the tree, came home and watched some football, ate some more of my favorite foods, watched a Reno 911! marathon, caught a cool documentary on PBS about two fellows following in Marco Polo’s footsteps and all the political hassles they went through that still didn’t dampen the wonder of their journey, saw a few minutes of Jackie Chan in “Legend of the Drunken Master” and fell asleep next to the person I love and my dogs.
Yep, it was a Perfect Day.
This Lou Reed tune played during the Warhol doc. I used to have this on cassette years ago and always loved it. I thought it applied perfectly to the day and the parameters of FGF.

Guys beating the crap out of each other is back at the top of the American sports food chain.
While Mike Tyson and Don King have helped bring boxing down from the great heights it reached during the Ali/Frazier/Sugar Ray heyday, humans still love to see their fellow man get punched in the face and kicked in the groin.
Mixed Martial Arts and Ultimate Fighting are making their way into the media mainstream.
But Mother Nature put an aggressive gene in more than just mankind.
Kangaroos like to kick some butt too. They punch like Apollo Creed and kick like Bruce Lee.
Here are the videos to prove it.
Roo v Marty Monster has nothing to do with abortion rights.
Kangaroo vs handlers and tv host
And finally some footage of the down under hoppers duking it out in their natural habitat.
And finally, I’ll end with my favorite kangaroo.
Newscoma has a classic roo punch pic for you too.

If you’ve seen these guys already, good for you. If not take a gander at this art on the fly.
And I know for a fact you haven’t seen the masterpiece at the top of this post because I just “painted” it this morning.
This is Dan Dunn and his Paintjam work. On the Paintjam site scroll down for several videos. He had a featured video on Yahoo’s homepage on the 4th of July. This is a different one.
Here’s another artist, Phil Hansen, whose art is available on youtube and at his philinthecircle.com Much of his work is political in nature, but not all of it. It’s all thought provoking and some of it is just fun. Like the bit below.
(hat tip to freezertroll for the Bruce Lee bit)
