Ke$ha and Star Trek

The only thing that could make an earworm more palatable and tolerable would be a mashup.

I’ve had Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” cycling through my head for about a week now. (Thank you. I know your pity is palpable).

To make the pain a little easier, I found this video that combines the pop star and Captain Kirk and now I must share it with you.

Ok, it’s not sharing, it’s more like I’m spreading the misery.

William Shatner’s and Stewie’s Rendition of Elton’s Rocket Man

Oh, William Shatner, how I heart you and your vocal stylings.

I found Shatner’s rendition of the Elton John tune “Rocket Man” and I can’t get enough of this. It was part of the televised 1978 Science Fiction Film Awards.

As if his singular version isn’t trippy enough, through the “magic of television” they bring in a couple of other versions of Shatner for a trio finale.

I wonder if Travelocity could use any of this footage in their commercials? Nahh.

As a bonus, you get Karen Black introducing Bernie Taupin at the front end of the clip.

Of course, Family Guy lets Stewie do his dream version of Shatner, but I’ll stick with the truly original Captain Kirk puffing, sweating and offering dramatic pauses as he wends his way through Elton’s tune.

Geek Christmas Ornaments

I’m trying to get in the Christmas spirit, but haven’t had much luck lately.

Oddly enough, these geeky little Christmas ornaments may have helped perk up the spirits a bit, considering I have actually had two of them dangle from my own tree.

It seems, there are ornaments for all sorts of gamers out there too.

The Simpsons and Star Trek Themes Collide

It’s Bart Simpson vs Captain Kirk or Lisa Simpson meets Spock.

Using a Theremin, a funnel and a Rhodes piano, a combination of The Simpsons and the Star Trek theme songs has been mashed together.

It’s not quite Gwen Stefani and the Soggy Bottom Boys, but it is different.

And how often do you get to see a Theremin in action.

Captain Kirk the Red Hot Lover

I’m by no means a sci fi Star Trek geek, but it never fails that an episode of the space travel TV show makes me giggle at least twice.

One of those giggles is usually because Captain Kirk is having some green alien babe with an intricate beehive, twirly hairdo trying to get into his tight black uniform pants.

It happens at least every other episode.
